"George Jacob Dambacher and his wife, Barbara Zehner left there house in Alsace France in 1832 and boarded the ship the New Jefferson at Le Havre, France and arrived at the port in Baltimore, Maryland. Accompanying him were his daughters,and his sons, Adam, Charles, Fredrick and Christian. The two older sons John Nicholas and George Jacob, brought their families later in 1835 to the port of New York where they soon settled close to their parents in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. "

They were natives of Alsace-Lorraine, France, and were accompanied by their family of eight children, as follows: Adam; Charles; Fredrick; Christian; Catherine; Sophia; Caroline, and Magdalena, all of whom were born in Germany. The family resided in Jackson township for a few years and then removed to Cranberry township, where the parents spent the remainder of their lives. "
